Case Studies

Bespoke Web Development

A credential-heavy consulting practice needed a site that matched its expertise.

JH Pearl Consulting — Structural engineering and safety consulting

Challenge

Jeff Pearl founded JH Pearl Consulting after 43 years in structural engineering and safety consulting. His credentials are extensive — licensed across 21 regions, certified in OSHA fall protection, and a featured speaker at national engineering conferences. His website reflected none of it.

The existing site was generic and template-driven, doing nothing to establish Jeff's authority in a field where trust is everything. Prospects couldn't see the depth of his experience at a glance — and in professional engineering consulting, first impressions are the engagement.

Solution

We designed and built a fully custom site for jhpearlconsulting.com in partnership with Off Grid Software. The design centers on a dark, sophisticated aesthetic — a deliberate choice to signal seriousness and precision in an industry that rewards both.

The site's architecture is built around Jeff's credentials. Industry experience, licensed regions, major projects, and certifications are front and center. A year-in-review section captures his first year's accomplishments — client relationships, certifications earned, speaking engagements, and professional alliances — turning his track record into a living portfolio.

Results

  • Custom-built from scratch — no templates, no themes, no compromises on design
  • Credentials and industry stats surfaced immediately, establishing authority on first visit
  • Year-in-review section documents client relationships across six industries, four certifications earned, and three major speaking engagements in year one
  • Mobile-first responsive layout with semantic HTML and WCAG-compliant accessibility
  • Site reflects 43 years of domain expertise in a way a generic template never could
Execution Consulting

Most business owners don't know their website is losing customers. Showing them the data changes the conversation.

Multiple clients — E-commerce and service businesses

Challenge

Business owners know their website is "slow" in a vague sense. What they don't know is the specific number: how slow, compared to what benchmark, and what percentage of their visitors are leaving because of it. Without that data, the problem stays abstract — and abstract problems don't get fixed.

We've worked with e-commerce brands and service businesses where performance analysis uncovered main content load times of 14–18 seconds on mobile. Google's own research says 53% of mobile visitors abandon a page after 3 seconds. At those speeds, the majority of first-time visitors were gone before seeing a product, a service, or a phone number.

Solution

We produce clear, owner-readable performance audits that translate technical measurements into business impact. Not Core Web Vitals scores for their own sake — but what those scores mean for how many customers are leaving, and where the specific bottlenecks are.

Audits cover real visitor data from Google's field measurements alongside controlled lab tests that simulate a first-time visitor on a mid-range phone. Together, they paint an accurate picture of what the average customer experiences versus what the worst-case scenario looks like — and they give a business owner a prioritized list of what to fix and why.

What These Audits Surface

  • Precise load times for first paint, largest content, and full interactivity — translated into estimated visitor drop-off rates
  • Identification of the specific bottlenecks: oversized images, unused JavaScript, third-party scripts, cache misconfigurations
  • Side-by-side comparison of real visitor experience versus simulated first-time visitor — so owners understand both the average and the worst case
  • Accessibility and SEO flags that often compound performance problems: missing alt text, generic link text, insufficient color contrast
  • A clear, prioritized action list — owners leave knowing exactly what to fix first and the business case for fixing it
